Embryonic Versus Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Cartilage Repair Abstract:
This page is a review of a study into Embryonic Versus Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Cartilage Repair. As our population changes osteoarthritis and cartilage defects are becoming more prevalent. The discovery of stems cells and their ability for indefinite regeneration has revolutionized the way cartilage problems are viewed. Tissue engineering has been shown to be the ideal way of repairing articular cartilage lesions, i.e. back to native tissue. The two main types of stem cells being investigated in chondrogenesis are embryological and mesenchymal stem cells. Research into embryological stem cells has been surrounded by controversy because of tumor formation and damaging embryos during the harvest of cells. We discuss the use of embryological and mesenchymal stem cells in cartilage repair and the various factors involved in the differentiation into chondrocytes.
Dream Body Clinic is able to treat cartilage damaged joints such as; knees, shoulders, ankles, wrists, elbows, spine, hips, fingers and toes. We use mesenchymal stem cells derived from placenta and Wharton’s Jelly (Umbilical tissue). These mesenchymal stem cells are able to guide the cellular regeneration of cartilage for patients with arthritis.
